Adam is the son of Columbian drug lord, Fabio Benjamin Garcia, who separated from his mother Jean Balharry Garcia in 1988.
At that time, teenaged Adam was not yet aware that his father was an international crime syndicate. The family was devistated when Fabio was eventually indicted on six separate criminal counts. Guilty was the jury's verdict in the Australia's largest drug busts in history. In 1989, Fabio and his partner Ian Hall Saxon fled to the United States where they were eventually caught in California, and in 1994 a jury returned verdicts of guilty on all six counts. *** See: Supreme Court Appeal Adam and his mother Jean suffered immensely over his father's life of crime. Adam's father had used their family home to secure loans for his money laundering scheme, and the bank wanted to take their home. Adam's mother did not participate in her then husband's criminal enterprise, and eventually she won her appeal against the bank, which saved their home from foreclosure. Over time, Adam's talents in theater and dance led to celebrity status. After appearing in several movies, Fabio began using his son's popularity to attract new friends and business partners. Instead of a business card, the deadbeat dad would hand out VHS copies of Adam's movies. One neighbor in particular remembers meeting Fabio and being given two video tapes of Adam's movies. The boy was around Adam's age, and Fabio dazzled him with stories of his worldly travels and fortune. The boy was disabled and suffered from a life-threatening disease, and he was always surrounded by good friends. Fabio seemed most interested in the boy's female friends, who he would often invite to his home. Fabio kept a stockpile of $2 bottles of wine, which he used to seduce young girls into sexual acts. One one such occasion Fabio was accused of raping a college student, but the victim was talked out of pressing charges. Shortly after, Fabio impregnated a Chinese college student, but she refused to have an abortion. Fabio was livid over the girl's plan to have his child, but this was only the beginning of what he calls a living hell. She has taken Fabio to court for child support, and has even had police put him in jail for domesic violency. She and their son live with Fabio in his penthouse condo in Emeryville, California. |
